On Thursday, February 16, more than 1,000 people came together for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Main Event. This annual gala – chaired this year by Stephanie and Jules Trump – brings together many of Miami’s leading philanthropists to celebrate the strength of the Jewish community and Miami’s long-time connection with Israel. During the event, they also raise vital funds for people in need in Miami, in Israel and in more than 70 other countries around the world.
A highlight of the gala was a keynote address by Harvard Law School’s Professor Alan Dershowitz. One of the most prominent trial attorneys in America and a passionate advocate for the State of Israel, Professor Dershowitz was presented with Federation’s 2012 Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award. Guests also heard the personal stories of Federation beneficiaries, who shared the impact the Annual Federation/UJA Campaign has on their daily lives.
