Sunday, November 3rd at 10:30 AM. Temple Emanu-El on Miami Beach will present Yoram Ettinger as its guest speaker. Ambassador Ettinger is an insider on US-Israel relations, mideast politics and overseas investments in Israel's high tech arena. He is a member of the American-Israel Demographic Research Group (AIDRG), which has documented dramatic flaws behind demographic fatalism on one hand and a Jewish demographic momentum on the other hand. He is a consultant to members of Israel’s Cabinet and Knesset, and regularly briefs US legislators and their staff on Israel’s contribution to vital US interests, on the root causes of international terrorism and on other issues of bilateral concern. Ambassador Ettinger's Op-Ed pieces have been published in Israel and in the US, and he has been interviewed on Israeli and American TV and radio. In addition, he was a speaker at the AIPAC Annual Conference. Ambassador Ettinger , who did his graduate studies at UCLA and undergraduate at UTEP,- served as Minister for Congressional Affairs at Israel's Embassy in Washington (with the rank of ambassador), as Israel's Consul General in Houston and as Director of Israel's Government Press Office. He is the editor of Straight From The Jerusalem Cloakroom and Boardroom, newsletters on issues of national security and overseas investments in Israel's high-tech.

For the second consecutive year, scholarships of up to 100% full tuition for rising Grade 9 and Grade 10 students will be awarded to those who excel at the highest level, based on scholarship criteria. A rising Grade 9 student, for example, can be recognized with a full scholarship throughout all four years of high school.

North Miami Beach - Fifty-two 2019 AP Scholar Awards were granted to Scheck Hillel Community School students in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP exams, continuing a Scheck Hillel tradition.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP exams.

“Congratulations to Scheck Hillel Community School's 2019 AP Scholar Award recipients, their families and our faculty,” said Vanessa Donaher, Scheck Hillel’s Head of School. “Such outstanding academic achievement comes from dedication and commitment shared by all.”

Two Scheck Hillel students qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. These students are Gabrielle Kurzer ‘20 and Class of 2019 Salutatorian Matias Lancewicki (Cornell University, Gap Year: Mayanot Institute of Jewish Studies).

Eighteen Scheck Hillel students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Jonathan Abbo ‘19 (Tulane University), Olga Benacerraf ‘20, Moises Bensadon ‘19 (Tel Aviv University), Gabriela Bentolila ‘19 (University of Miami, Gap Year: Bar Ilan Experience), Jaime Bursztyn ‘20, Class of 2019 Valedictorian Raquel DiMitri (University of Miami - Foote Fellows Honors Program), Danielle Esquenazi ‘20, Tali Finger, Eli Gelb ‘20, Myles Gilbert ‘20, Leah Grobman ‘20, Gabrielle Kurzer ‘20, Matias Lancewicki ‘19, Rotem Miara ‘20, Jayme Podgorowiez ‘19 (University of Miami), Alex Wagenberg ‘20, Danit Weitzman ‘20 and Mauricio Woldenberg ‘20.
