Federation helped 8,000 Holocaust survivors attend 120 Café Europa social clubs in Israel this year, working together with our overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

Federation’s Mishkan Miami: The Jewish Connection for Spiritual Support and Jewish Volunteer Center are seeking participants for the Refuat Ha-Nefesh Spiritual Care Program. For more than 10 years, this life-changing program has offered volunteers the opportunity to bring comfort, spiritual solace and joy to people in need.

Russian Speaking PJ Library Miami is bringing STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) educational programs and Jewish values together in a series of unique, monthly classes beginning in October.

It may be the first week of school, but many Miami-area children are still thinking about the amazing summer they had at sleepaway camp. This past summer, Federation distributed more than $120,000 in scholarships, allowing 180 local kids to attend Jewish sleepaway camps of all religious streams.

The Leo Martin March of the Living is now accepting applications for the April 2019 trip. The impactful six-month educational program includes a two-week journey to Poland and Israel.

Through the Choosing Tomorrow Medical Student Initiative, established by our overseas partner, The Jewish Agency for Israel, exemplary students in their fourth through sixth years of medical school receive educational scholarships and social entrepreneurship training each year.

Federation partners with local synagogues to fund the Gift of Israel Savings program to ensure that every young adult has the opportunity to experience Israel.

Your Miami Jewish community is participating in the G2: Global Intergenerational Initiative with Federation’s Israeli partnership city of Yerucham. Recognizing that grandparents play an important role in solidifying the Jewish legacy, the innovative year-long program pairs grandparents with their pre-teen (5th-8th grade) grandchildren to explore family narratives, meaningful connections and Judaic traditions.

Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council and Women’s Philanthropy are collaborating with the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and United Way to assist with voter registration before the midterm elections.

This past week, Hamas intensified its attacks on Israel’s southern border from Gaza, launching nearly 200 rockets at civilian targets, sending families running to bomb shelters.

Vulnerable Israeli youth ages 12-18 are receiving the attention and support they need to successfully integrate into Israeli society. Four Youth Villages, run by The Jewish Agency for Israel, Federation’s overseas partner, offer a variety of educational, clinical and social work services for those suffering from severe emotional, behavioral and family problems.

Federation continues to support and empower Jewish women and girls in Miami with the fourth cycle of the Women’s Impact Initiative grants. Past grant recipients have created programs focused on women’s health, leadership development, unemployment support, education and more.
