Celebrating Jewish American Heritage Month

As we come to the end of Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM), you can be #JewishMiamiProud to know that the annual celebration has been visibly present across Miami-Dade County. Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council was proud to receive JAHM proclamations from both Miami-Dade County and the City of Aventura earlier this month. County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, County Commissioner Micky Steinberg and the County Commission held their proclamation celebration on May 20, while Mayor Howard Weinberg and Aventura’s City Commission presented their proclamation on May 6. Jewish Miami and South Florida have long played a role in celebrating Jewish American heritage, which includes Federation’s strong and successful push — along with US Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz — for the national proclamation of JAHM, which was signed into law in 2006 by President George W. Bush. Of course, there are many reasons to be #JewishMiamiProud.
