Preschoolers at the Herman & Miriam Tauber Academy raised $800 to help children in Federation’s partner city of Yerucham buy necessary school supplies. Every year at the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center preschool, graduating classes engage in a mitzvah (good deed) project.

Federation’s Office of Community Security (OCS) remains vigilant in supporting our Jewish community, especially amidst a climate of increased antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment. Tasked with supporting the security posture of synagogues, schools, camps and other Jewish institutions throughout Miami-Dade County, OCS focuses on real-time intelligence to better advise on necessary security adjustments.

What started as a chat group of 35 at the onset of Operation Rising Lion for Miamians stranded in Israel has turned into an information network for hundreds from across South Florida.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation, our Jewish Community Relations Council and the Jewish Federations of North America are encouraging everyone to contact their member of Congress to request unwavering support for Israel as it defends itself against Iran’s nuclear threat.

At this critical time for Israel, Federation and our longstanding overseas partners are working around the clock to give vital support to those in need and responding quickly to emerging issues.

“People who have experienced trauma must also deal with bureaucracy,” said Aya, a program manager at one of 30 Federation-supported benefit centers throughout Israel, created to help guide Israelis through the government requirements necessary to receive the aid following a terrorist attack.

For the fourth time, the Miami Jewish Film Festival (MJFF), a program of CAJE | The Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education, a Federation agency, has been included in MovieMaker Magazine’s prestigious list of the “50 Best Film Festivals in the World.”

Jewish Miami stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and we are committed to supporting LGBTQ+ Jews in a number of ways. Our Jewish Community Relations Council marches in the annual Miami Beach Pride Parade, convening hundreds of individuals from local synagogues and partner agencies to proudly join the cause.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is helping young adults and teens traumatized by the October 7 attacks through unique eco-farming initiatives.

Diller Teen Fellows, a pluralistic and immersive leadership program for rising Jewish 10th and 11th graders, is now accepting applications for its next cohort that will take place during the 2025-2026 academic year.

At 109 years old, Malka “Mollie” Horwitz is Miami-Dade County’s oldest known living Holocaust Survivor, and for the past 11 years has been able to live in dignity, thanks to the Holocaust Survivor Assistance Program, a Federation-supported initiative operated by our partner Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS).

With the help of Federation funding, Kibbutz Or HaNer recently launched three new surf therapy groups supporting women from families of reservists, men ages 35-55 and adults 55 and over.

Scheck Hillel Community School, one of 12 Federation-funded Jewish day schools, hosted the Eighth Annual CAJE Jewish Day School Robotics Festival this May. A celebration of innovation and Jewish unity, the event showcased the design, engineering and problem-solving skills of more than 230 students in third through seventh grade from a dozen schools across South Florida.

As we come to the end of Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM), you can be #JewishMiamiProud to know that the annual celebration has been visibly present across Miami-Dade County.

“The Kallah Project is more than a bridal gemach (traditional Jewish lending initiative),” noted co-founder Debbie Mendal. “It’s a community of kindness.” With Federation serving as its fiscal sponsor and the help of co-founders Helen Gay Benenson and Helen Milhem, the project offers a curated selection of wedding gowns, veils, accessories and bridal essentials that brides can “borrow.”

Nearly 150 students from UM Hillel, Hillel at FIU and Hillel at FSU recently participated in Birthright Israel and explored Yerucham, Federation's partner city. The cohorts, who traveled separately, visited MindCet, an innovative education technology center, where they met with the wife of an IDF reservist who served 350 days.

Are you the grandchild of a Holocaust Survivor? Learn to present your grandparents’ testimony with 3GMiami during this summer’s speaker training series. A program of the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, 3GMiami trains participants to educate students about the dangers of intolerance and combat antisemitism by recounting their family histories. Sessions begin in June via Zoom and take place on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m.
