Following an exhausting day of activities we started off today the earliest yet. We woke to the sounds of howling wind and sand spraying against the side of our tent. It was 5 a.m., cold and dark, but after a quick tea and biscuit snack we boarded the bus ready to start our day.

We arrived at Masada just after 6 and started our climb to the top. Battling the cold wind we made it to the peak, but unfortunately could not see the long anticipated sunrise through the clouds. What the clouds couldn't hide was the amazing landscape and surrounding desert dunes leading to the Dead Sea.

We toured the remainder of the fort that was once occupied by Jewish rebels, but then reclaimed by the Romans. We then drove to Machane Yehuda, the market place in Jerusalem to grab lunch and do some shopping. Here the sights and smells of an open market was an amazing first time experience for me and many others on the trip. In a place where hustle and bustle truly is shouting and pushing, it was almost overwhelming, but made the experience one not to forget. From the market we headed to our luxurious hotel Crown Plaza. Here we ended our day lighting Shabbat candles, stuffing our faces with Shabbat dinner, and playing different games throughout the night.
