Volunteer Center

The mission of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Volunteer Center is to partner with Jewish and communal organizations in Miami to create a culture of volunteerism by providing a central clearinghouse for volunteers in the Miami Jewish community. Guided by the Jewish values of Chesed (kindness), Tzedakah (charity) and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), the volunteer center works to strengthen the entire community through high-quality hands-on volunteer projects and service-learning initiatives. The more specific objectives of the committee should be to:

1. Provide opportunities for volunteer placement within our federation agencies.

2. Work in conjunction with all Federation departments to help create meaningful volunteer opportunities for lay leaders and community members.

3. Work together with our community at large to create large days of service for the Jewish Community.

4. The JVC committee works to provide a low barrier entry point to the Jewish Community by engaging all target groups and ages in Jewish service.

North Dade Gives Back

A regional committee made up of Volunteer Center leaders who serve in an advisory role for volunteers who give back in the North Dade neighborhoods of Miami.

South Dade Gives Back

The purpose/mission of this community is to identify various unmet needs in South Dade where Board members’ participation, either individually or collectively, can improve the quality of life for other people.  After the identification of these needs, the committee will establish programs and help recruit other people to join them.  The committee is a hands-on volunteer committee that will attend and help to plan: Everything but the Turkey, Super Sunday/Good Deeds Day and two other community volunteer programs based on what comes out of the planning meeting.  They will also oversee each of the South Dade board community service projects.
