Women’s Philanthropy Executive Board and Area Boards

Women’s Philanthropy (WP) works to support the mission of the GMJF to enhance Jewish life and secure a Jewish future by encouraging Jewish women to be counted, increase their awareness and become involved. It motivates Jewish women to devote their time, efforts and financial resources to the local, national and international Jewish communities.

WP understands and promotes the opportunity for women to express themselves philanthropically by living their passion.

WP encourages women to express and perpetuate Jewish ideals and values and to act as guardians of the Jewish future by accepting responsibility of Tikkun Olam and by maintaining the tradition of Tzedakah.  WP provides numerous opportunities for women to increase their knowledge, develop leadership skills and express their philanthropic ambitions thru a myriad of programs and events which focus on campaign & fundraising, education & leadership and outreach & development.

The Women’s Campaign represents approximately a third of the Annual Campaign.

Women have been participants in the UJA campaign process since 1939 as a way to have their individual voices heard.

There are many important reasons why a woman should consider a gift in her own name including: Tzedakah is a personal obligation, it helps develop a separate identity, establishes her as a full investor in the community, provides decision making credibility, sets an example for her family by her actions and counts as a “vote” for the well- being of the Jewish community.

With her pledge, each woman exercises her right to express her own commitment to Jewish life. Caring is only the first step – giving her time and financial resources complete the cycle.  It stands to reason that women should be engaged in their own education and training, leadership, decision-making, philanthropic discussions and planning.  If a woman is concerned about Jewish survival, her personal commitment is a moral responsibility that she, as a Jew, must assume.

Women’s Philanthropy (WP) is organized into regional areas - Central, Miami Beach, North Dade and South Dade Area.  These inspiring group of women who are involved in the campaign, events, parlor meetings, educational programs, leadership training, outreach, mini-missions, hands-on experiences and more in an effort to support and participate in all campaign events and programs.  Each area board is responsible to report to the WP Executive Board with the goal to educate women to be introduced to the broader picture of philanthropic giving through the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, thereby increasing the number of women donors and the dollars raised. The Women’s Campaign of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation represents almost one third of the annual campaign.
