Description

Join Education Manager Luna Goldberg, and JMOF-FIU Board Member Dr. Andrew Gottlieb live via Zoom, for a conversation around ritual objects, and their importance in preserving cultural identity and collective memory. Dr. Gottlieb will share with us his research and objects from his personal Judaica collection with roots in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Cuba, and the United States.

About Dr. Andrew Gottlieb

Beyond his administrative role at the School for Advanced Studies-Miami Dade College, Andrew Gottlieb is a board member of the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU, and curator for the Hollander Collection, a non-profit collection of Judaica from the Old and New World.

He has traveled extensively throughout Israel, Europe, the United States and Latin America, acquiring ritual and secular Jewish artifacts, each chosen for its role in retelling the story of our people. Many of these pieces are currently on display in several different venues throughout South Florida, communicating narratives of the Jewish experience through physical artifacts and the written word. Interns from the Jewish Museum and Hollander programs have participated in the curation of historical displays currently being viewed in Wynwood and Doral.

Gottlieb has a BA in Literature from New College of Florida, an MA in International Relations from Florida International University, and a PhD in Political Science from the Union Institute & University.
