Description

Founded in 2020 by UF Hillel, Spread Cream Cheese Not Hate® is an award-winning initiative that seeks to proactively combat antisemitism and all forms of hate at the University of Florida.

Every January, in connection with National Bagel Day, the UF
community is asked to sign our Spread Cream Cheese Not
Hate® pledge, receiving a free bagel and cream cheese in appreciation of their participation.

Our efforts seek to build a coalition of Gators committed to working together to ensure UF remains a safe and welcoming place for all, including but not limited to Jewish students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
In light of recent events and the alarming presence of antisemitic acts in our country, including on college
campuses, this campaign is more timely than ever. Many of us are feeling sad, angry, helpless, and even scared. This campaign won't change our reality overnight. These are deep and complicated problems, bigger than any daylong campaign or online pledge can solve. It can, however, provide an important first step in bringing the individual voices of our community together to collectively work toward solutions.

By using a bagel and cream cheese as an invitation for a conversation, we are raising awareness of and educating our community about the dangers of antisemitism, discrimination, and other forms of hate.
