Grants Accountant, Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach
Job Description
Reports to: CEO, Holocaust Memorial
Employment Status: Full-time / Non-Exempt / Hybrid
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed financial records for all grants, including federal, state, local, and private funders.
- Ensure compliance with all grant terms, including allowable costs, reporting deadlines, and matching fund requirements.
- Monitor grant expenditures and provide monthly budget-to-actual reports to program managers and leadership.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports to funders.
- Assist in the development and submission of grant budgets during the proposal process.
- Participate in writing grant proposals, including narrative and financial components, in coordination with program and development staff.
- Understand and analyze budget lines to ensure alignment with program goals and funder requirements.
- Apply knowledge of finance and accounting principles to maintain accurate records and financial integrity across all grants.
- Reconcile grant activity to the general ledger and ensure all restricted funds are properly tracked.
- Serve as the liaison to external auditors and funders for grant-related financial information.
- Work closely with program staff to provide financial guidance and support budget modifications.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting related to grant receivables and reimbursements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in nonprofit accounting or grants management.
- Strong understanding of fund accounting and restricted funds management.
- Experience working with federal, state, and/or foundation grants.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud) and Microsoft Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff.
