2027 Israel Engagement and Education Grants Request for Proposal

Israel Engagement Committee Chair: David Scharlin

The Miami Jewish community has a deep connection to Israel. The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is committed to enhancing and spreading that connection by supporting cultural and educational initiatives that creates understanding, builds bridges, and nurtures lifelong engagement. As part of this commitment, we are pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for organizations that design and implement innovative programs in the fields of Israel engagement and Israel education.

We invite proposal submissions that explore the rich complexity of Israeli society, culture, and contemporary life and welcome initiatives that create varied experiences for diverse Miami audiences through various programs and activities.

We seek projects that:

• Promote Cultural Engagement with Israel
       • Feature Israeli music, film, literature, visual arts, or food to foster cultural connection and understanding.
       • Create storytelling that highlights personal narratives of Israelis from diverse backgrounds.
• Advance Israel Education
       • Create and deliver content-rich educational curricula.
       • Provide professional development for educators focused on Israel literacy and pedagogy.
       • Support teen and college-age learning opportunities.
• Facilitate Experiential Learning and Dialogue
       • Design experiences that encourage reflection and connection.
       • Engage intergenerational audiences in exploring identity, values, and the evolving relationship with Israel.

Eligibility Eligible applicants include nonprofits with tax-exempt status (or fiscal sponsorship) that serve the Jewish community in Miami-Dade County. Nonprofits receiving other Federation grants must be in compliance with the terms of those awards to be considered. Only one application per organization will be accepted.

Grant Amounts and Use
Grants range from $3,000 to $15,000 and are competitively awarded. Awards may be used to cover expenses directly related to implementing the cost of the program, such as marketing, supplies, materials, events or local travel Grants cannot be used for non-local travel, scholarships, capital projects or for any lobbying activities or fundraising events. Grants will not cover more than 50 percent of the total project cost. In addition, grants will not be awarded for existing organizational expenses such as staff salaries or overhead already covered by other sources; these may be included in the total budget but are not eligible for grant funding
