BGS Meeting of the Machers Bios

Judge Amy N. Dean is a Past Board Chair of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and a long-time leader in Miami’s Jewish community. She previously chaired Federation’s Major Gifts Committee, Jewish Community Relations Council, Women’s Philanthropy Campaign and Local Agencies Allocations Committee, and also served for two years as Chair of the United Jewish Appeal’s National Women’s Cabinet. Additionally, she served for two years as Chair of AIPAC in Miami-Dade County. She is President of Amy N. Dean, P.A. a legal mediation and dispute resolution practice. Admitted to the Florida Bar and New York Bar, she previously served as a Miami-Dade County Circuit Court Judge from 1991 to 2003. Before being elected to the bench, Judge Dean was an attorney with the law firm of Kluger, Peretz, Kaplan & Berlin. She began her legal career in 1976 as a Miami-Dade Assistant County Attorney. A graduate of Smith College, she received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law. She was born in New York City and raised in Miami. Judge Dean and her husband, Alan Kluger, have served in leadership positions for many local organizations and are devoted patrons of the arts. They have two children and two grandchildren.

Alan J. Kluger is a prominent member of the legal community who dedicates his energies to the highest standards of professionalism and the service of our community. He is Senior Founding Member of the law firm of Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, P.A. A veteran courtroom lawyer, Mr. Kluger is a trusted advisor who represents some of the nation’s largest businesses and most prominent individuals in challenging and complex cases.

Mr. Kluger consistently earns top rankings by peer-reviewed publications such as The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Florida Super Lawyers. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Trustee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, a Past Board member of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, a Past President of Florida Hillel Council and a former member of the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board.

Passionate supporters of the arts and community-based causes, Mr. Kluger and Judge Dean created a private charitable foundation, the Dean-Kluger Charitable Foundation, which supports various local and national charitable organizations. He is a graduate of Bryant University with a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law.
