Miami Mega Mission Offers Opportunity to See Your Dollars at Work in Israel

Welcoming new immigrants, feeding and caring for the frail and vulnerable, assisting at-risk populations... You’ve heard about the many ways your gift to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign make a difference in the lives of people across Israel. This spring, you can see your dollars at work in Israel when you travel on the Miami Mega Mission with 800 members of our Jewish community.

More than 629 people have already signed up to join the journey, which leaves Miami on April 22, 2012 and returns on May 1. Federation is creating a number of opportunities for Mission participants to witness firsthand the outstanding services in place each day through our overseas partners, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and countless other organizations. Their efforts are helping to provide a safety net for the most vulnerable Israelis through various forms of direct assistance, as well as life-changing educational and counseling programs. Some Mission-goers also will be offered the chance to spend time in Miami’s partnership city of Yerucham in Israel’s Negev region, and to share hands-on mitzvah projects and other activities with local residents.

During each day of the Mega Mission, participants will travel through Israel on a bus with friends, neighbors and an expert guide. While each bus will follow its own itinerary, all buses will meet for large-scale group activities, including five spectacular Mega Events featuring top entertainers and many surprises. Friday, April 27 will be “Options Day,” enabling participants to board a bus dedicated to a track of special interest, such as art and culture, nature, archaeology and history, volunteerism and more.

Other highlights of the Mega Mission include commemoration of Yom Hazikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day); celebration of Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day); and visits to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, the Negev and Northern Israel. This trip costs $3,600 per person (double occupancy, space limited) including non-stop, round-trip charter flight; $2,500 per person (double occupancy, land only) and $1,800 for individuals ages 22-39 (double occupancy, land only). Charter packages are subject to a $300 fuel surcharge per person. All participants will be asked to make a meaningful contribution to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign. Itinerary is subject to change.
