Mega Mission to Be Life-Changing for Miamians and Israelis

As Federation prepares to bring Miami residents to Israel this April on the Miami Mega Mission, Israelis are eagerly anticipating the participants’ arrival. “It is tremendously meaningful to the people of Israel that so many of us are coming from Miami together,” said Mega Mission Chair Saby Behar, who recently was part of a mission-planning trip to Israel along with Federation Board Chair Barbara Black Goldfarb. “Everywhere we went, we heard, ‘It is so important that you are coming,’” said Behar.

To enable participants to fully experience the excitement being felt across Israel, the Mega Mission will provide numerous opportunities for interaction with the Israeli people. There will be programs with high-ranking military officials, public-opinion-shapers and policy-makers; volunteer activities with residents of Miami’s partnership cities; and Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day) commemoration and Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day) celebration ceremonies with Israeli citizens and soldiers. Three of Israel’s most popular entertainers – Dudu Fisher, Shuly Nathan and Einat Sarouf – are looking forward to performing at three Mega Events. On Shabbat, mission-goers also will have the chance to join in prayer with their Israeli brothers and sisters at the Jerusalem synagogue of their choice. The list goes on; click here to view the full itinerary.

“The Miami Mega Mission is a wonderful opportunity to talk with Israelis, to hear about their achievements, their concerns and their hopes for the future,” said Behar. “At the same time, it will provide the chance for members of Miami’s Jewish community to express our ongoing support and friendship."
