Dr. Katariina Rosenblatt, Panelist

Dr. Katariina Rosenblatt, BA, LLM, PhD, JD (Candidate), is an author, Federal Consultant/Trainer/Speaker and International Survivor Leader, as well as the Executive Director of There Is HOPE For Me, Inc. (501c3), a survivor-to-survivor peer mentoring anti human trafficking agency in Florida and California. She has over ten years of experience in nonprofit work with survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. In 2010, she was invited by the former Sec. of State George Sheldon to be apart of the ad hoc Committee for Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking abd has worked on legislation for the Safe Harbor Act. Dr. Kat has testified before the Florida legislature as well as on Capitol Hill for laws to help survivors of human trafficking. She has also written legislation in Germany to combat pornography.

Dr. Kat overcame human trafficking and abuse from the time she was just 13 years of age to 17. She is the only known US survivor of human trafficking to be included in the National Museum for Civil & Human Rights in Atlanta. Dr. Kat has spoken and consulted nationwide to the Travel and Tourism Industry and major hotel chains. She has written two books on human trafficking including Trafficking in America: The Most Undetected Human Rights Violation of Our Time and her memoir, Stolen. She has worked closely with the FBI and received a Medal of Honor for Bravery from them in 2019.

Stephanie Viegas, Panelist

Stephanie Viegas began her career with the FBI in 1997, where she served in the National Capital Region until 2007. While assigned to the National Capital Region, she was the Senior Team Leader for the Evidence Response Team, the Assistant Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Coordinator and the Assistant Team Leader for the Hazardous Materials Team. Prior to retiring from the FBI in June 2019, she was the WMD Coordinator in the Miami Field Office.

Stephanie has also served as an instructor for the FBI/DOD Counter-Proliferation program and for Interpol’s Bioterrorism Program. In addition, Stephanie has extensive experience in Counter-Terrorism to include evidence recovery operations and interviewing and interrogations having participated in operations from many high-profile cases.

Stephanie is an avid swimmer and is a competitive rower. She volunteers with the Hollywood Rowing Club and the Hollywood North Beach Association.

Carol Brick-Turin, Moderator

Carol Brick-Turin, our Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council Director, has also served as immediate past president of the national Community Relations Directors Association. She currently serves on the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board’s executive committee. The JCRC is leading the effort to combat the deligitimization of Israel, address issues of community security and anti-Semitism.
