Rabbinical Association Announces New Slate of Officers

The Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami (RAGM) has elected Rabbi Mark Kram, spiritual leader of Temple Beth Or, as its President, as well as a full slate of Officers for the coming year.

The 2010–2011 Officers elected include Rabbi Jonathan Berkun of Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center–Beth Jacob and Rabbi Hector Epelbaum of The Center for Jewish Life at Beth David Congregation as Vice Presidents, Rabbi Alan E. Litwak of Temple Sinai as Treasurer, and Rabbi Howard Seif as Secretary. Rabbi Frederick Klein will continue to serve as RAGM Executive Director.

At the RAGM Annual Meeting, members also recognized the achievements of Rabbi Mayer Abramowitz, founding Rabbi of Temple Menorah, who provided more than half a century of leadership and service to the Jewish people. Rabbi Abramowitz began his career as a World War II chaplain serving displaced Jewish Holocaust survivors before becoming a distinguished, long-time spiritual leader in Miami Beach.

Founded in 1935, the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami includes approximately 100 rabbis — Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist. RAGM members work closely with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation in a variety of areas, including sponsorship of the Jewish Chaplaincy Program, whose volunteers and professionals provide spiritual guidance and visitations to the sick and elderly in medical facilities, social-service institutions and residences across the community.
