Base Miami Provides Opportunities for Jewish Community

For young adults looking for meaningful connections to Jewish life, Base Miami, an innovative Federation program, is the place to go. Founded on the values of hospitality, learning and service, Base Miami centers around the home of Rabbi Adam and Jessie Gindea in the Roads area near Brickell. The Gindeas plan pluralistic educational events and programs that engage young professionals, ranging from weekly Shabbat dinners to challah bakes to mindfulness and meditation classes. “We provide an intimate space and rabbinic resource to bring people together to learn, explore and journey with others along the varied paths of meaningful Jewish life,” said Rabbi Gindea.

In the challenge of the pandemic, Base has given participants unique in-person opportunities to grow socially, educationally and religiously. The programs are developed for small groups, making them a welcomed antidote for the isolation so many have experienced. Base has hosted outdoor yoga, socially distant schmoozing sessions and interactive Torah learning. “Our whole purpose is to help people explore their own Jewish journey,” Rabbi Gindea explained. “In the process they find community and friendship.”
