Birthright Israel Participants Visit Yerucham

Creating people-to-people relationships is a major goal of the Miami-Yerucham Partnership, and that mission was advanced on Jerusalem Day, May 16, when 90 participants from University of Miami and Florida International University Taglit-Birthright Israel trips joined with Israeli youngsters for a day of enriching activities. In the early part of the day, Birthright participants joined with Shahar Montessori Elementary School students for hands-on, experiential learning projects, including one to build a model of Jerusalem’s walls. “It was a pleasure to watch the instant connection between the Birthright participants and the kids,” said Eliana Ben-Sheleg, the Miami-Yerucham Living Bridge Coordinator. “The kids had such a great time; they didn’t want the day to end!” In the afternoon, a second Birthright bus toured Yerucham while learning about the city’s unique history, tasting Moroccan food and beverages and visiting MindCET to understand the town’s technological achievements.
