Local Campers Perform Mitzvahs

Federation Jewish Volunteer Center is partnering with the Dave and Mary Alper Jewish Community Center Camp J to help campers incorporate the spirit of service into their summer. Each week, campers of all ages participate in Mitzvah Mondays by completing different service projects. The mitzvot include: preparing sandwiches for the homeless; writing thank you cards for U.S soldiers; collecting canned goods for the Jewish Community Services Kosher Food Bank, a Federation partner agency; making blankets for residents at The Palace, an assisted living facility in Miami; assembling bags with personal care items for clients of Chapman Partnership for the Homeless and creating stuffed bears for children in hospitals and foster care.
