The Importance of Civility

With Tuesday’s election, political campaigns have dominated the news and certainly prompted heated discussions. In the wake of lingering emotions, Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), the public affairs arm of Miami’s Jewish community, is urging the public to show respect, empathy and civility toward each other. Last week, JCRC Chair Tracey Spiegelman penned an op-ed that appeared in the Miami Herald on behalf various organizations in Miami-Dade County, including the Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP, Coalition of South Florida Muslim Organizations and Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board, expressing faith in our nation’s democratic values and institutions and advocating for restraint and patience.
