Federation Announces Women’s Impact Initiative Grant Recipients

For the third year in a row, Federation has allocated $50,000 in Women’s Impact Initiative (WII) grants to organizations that inspire and empower Jewish women and girls and improve our local community with programs in Miami that pursue social, economic, religious and political equality. Nine non-profits, touching all age groups and religious streams, were awarded grants. Click here to see a full list of recipients and their respective program proposals.

In addition, this is the first time that Federation collaborated on a WII grant with other local organizations. The Women’s Impact Initiative of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, the Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches, the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Broward County and the Jewish Women’s Foundation of South Palm Beach County came together to contribute $5,000 each toward a collaborative grant for Jewish Women’s International. The $20,000 grant will help fund Change the Culture. Administered by Jewish Women International to be held on three college campuses in South Florida — University of Miami, Nova Southeastern University and Florida Atlantic University — Change the Culture is a multi-faceted program for Jewish students that tackles the epidemic of campus sexual assault with a goal of changing attitudes, supporting survivors, empowering women and engaging men as allies. Given the current climate and the recent spotlight on sexual harassment, this type of programming is timely and important for our young Jewish women and men.
