“Buycott for Israel” Day Is March 30

Anti-Israel activists have declared March 30 as the global day of action for the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement. Boycotters have been energetically lobbying stores across North America to stop selling Israeli products.

To counter this effort, pro-Israel groups are calling for March 30 to be a Buy Israeli Goods (BIG) day. The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, in partnership with the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center, Consulate General of Israel and Florida-Israel Chamber of Commerce, will take part in the BIG Day and have transformed the boycott into a buycott.

“We are encouraging Miami-Dade community members to buy Israeli-made items, particularly the ones being targeted, on March 30,” said Regina F. Zelonker, JCRC Chair. “Purchasing these products from our local merchants sends them an important message about our support for the Israeli people and their economy.”

In addition to visiting area stores, residents can go to the Michael-Ann Russell JCC in North Miami Beach, where vendors who offer Israeli products are invited to exhibit and sell these products in the JCC lobby on March 30. (Interested vendors can call the JCC at 305.932.4200, ext. 128.)
