JSTAR Program Offers Miami Teens Exciting Mitzvah Projects

The Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation offers an exciting mitzvah program for South Dade eighth-grade students called JSTAR (Jewish Students Taking an Active Role). By participating in this program, teens have the opportunity to complete fun and unique mitzvah projects that they can participate in as a group activity as well as earn up to 30 community service hours.

Highlights of the program include:

  • Working with children at the Ronald McDonald House in Miami
  • Holding a food drive for and a visit to the JCS Kosher Food Bank
  • Participating in JVC sponsored events such as “Everything… but the Turkey,” “Super Sunday” and “Jewish Community Volunteer Day”
  • Hearing from special guest speakers, including a Holocaust survivor
  • Through this mitzvah program, students gain a sense of fulfillment by using their time, talents and skills to help those in need in the Jewish community.

Limited space is available and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to RSVP, email [email protected] or call 786.866.8680.
