Federation Community Members Returned from a Medical Mission to Israel

Federation community members returned this week from a medical mission to Israel, where they traveled and experienced the country through a medical lens and witnessed firsthand the nation's technological advances. Attendees toured medical research facilities, participated in an ambulance ride along, met with Israeli biotech leaders and visited Federation beneficiaries Maslan, an organization that supports survivors of sexual and domestic violence and Shalva, the Israel Association for the Care and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. The itinerary also included simulations that examined the challenges of practicing medicine in circumstances unique to Israel, including how to treat a diverse patient population and how to handle medical crises in the field while under fire. “It was remarkable to see all the citizens of Israel working together to provide excellent healthcare to all citizens without regard to ethnicity, religion or gender,” said Dr. Larry Spiegelman, Mission Chair.
