Join Federation for the National Young Leadership "Summer of Soul" Trip to Israel

This summer, hundreds of young professionals from across North America, including a contingent from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, will attend the National Young Leadership “Summer of Soul” Summer Trip to Israel with The Jewish Federations of North America.

The trip, which runs from June 30 to July 7, will show participants ages 22 to 45 firsthand all of the incredible ways Federation changes lives every day in Israel and put some “soul into summer.” Their experience will include meetings with representatives from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), The Jewish Agency for Israel and Masa Israel.

Also on the trip itinerary (which is subject to change) are a hike in the Carmel Mountain Forest, a meeting with soldiers and officers at an Israel Defense Forces Naval base, an experiential lesson in Bedouin culture, a visit to Yad Vashem, a security briefing from an IDF representative in Sderot and Shabbat celebration in Jerusalem. Attendees will also have the option to personalize a day of their Israel experience with more specialized activities on one of four tracks: adventure, food and wine, hi-tech and politics.

During the 2013 mission, the Miami delegation visited the Jaffa Institute—a program that assists severely disadvantaged children and their families in the greater Tel Aviv-Jaffa area. The Institute operates two programs supported by the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign: The Women's Amutot Initiative funds the "Welfare to Wellbeing" program, where women from the greater Tel Aviv-Jaffa area attend intensive training courses to learn specific skills that will enable them to find employment, cut their dependence on welfare and help break the cycle of poverty; and Federation’s Nutritional Support Initiative supports the work of the Institute’s Food Distribution Center's Providing Sustenance to Holocaust Survivors program, which delivers food packages to Holocaust survivors twice a month. The Miami group also helped pack food boxes for delivery to people in need.

Registration for the National Young Leadership Summer Trip to Israel is now open. Please visit http://www.nextgenjews.org/summer-trip.aspx for more information, pricing plans and to register.

Adam Lubkin and Brooke Goldberg are the Recruitment Chairs for the Miami delegation. Subsidies for participants who live or work in Miami-Dade County are available. Please contact Lori Tabachnikoff at [email protected] for more information.

The National Young Leadership Summer Trip to Israel is being sponsored locally by the Young Leadership Division of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. The Young Leadership Division is an effort to engage those ages 22-39 in the Mission of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, which is to mobilize human and financial resources to care for those in need, strengthen Jewish life and advance the unity, values and shared purpose of the Jewish people in Miami, in Israel and around the world.
