Scheck Hillel Community School Students Visit Yerucham

For many years, Scheck Hillel Community School — a Federation-funded Jewish day school — has taken its 9th-grade students on an annual trip to Israel, with a visit to Miami’s partnership city of Yerucham in the Negev. While the COVID-19 pandemic made the past two years’ trips impossible, the school was able to resume its Israel trip this year, taking students from the 9th, 10th and 11th grades to Israel — and, of course, Yerucham. The freshmen and sophomores met with students in the Kama High School and participated in outdoor activities, a cookout and shared learning about the Miami-Yerucham partnership. Federation helped Scheck Hillel plan the trip to Yerucham and also provided financial assistance for students who would otherwise not be able to participate in the Israel trip.
