Greater Miami Jewish Federation, JCRC, RAGM Condemn Rocket Fire from Islamic Jihad

August 7, 2022 – The Greater Miami Jewish Federation, its Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami (RAGM) condemn in the strongest possible terms the barrage of hundreds of rockets fired from Gaza into Israel over the last several days by Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist organization whose ideals are inspired by the 1979 Iranian Revolution. We unconditionally support Operation Breaking Dawn and all efforts by Israel to preemptively defend itself against explicit threats, kidnappings, sniper attacks, rocket fire, incendiary devices and other harmful endeavors by violent radical groups. Every sovereign government must protect its citizens. Deadly rocket fire coming from an organization whose sole purpose is to terrorize, maim and murder innocent Israelis and Jewish people cannot be tolerated.

We mourn the unnecessary loss of life and those injured in this latest clash on both sides – much of which has been caused by misfired Islamic Jihad rockets that fail to make it into Israel and land in the Gaza Strip. We welcome recent media reports of a ceasefire that may occur this evening. We continue to pray for a peaceful resolution in the Middle East.
