Yom HaShoah/Israel Solidarity Service on May 1

Members of the community are invited to gather at the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation on Sunday, May 1 to remember the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and to show solidarity with the people of Israel during a Yom HaShoah Observance and Israel Solidarity Service.

This year, in addition to the Yom HaShoah ceremony is a memorial service for victims of terror in Israel. Here, the community can show solidarity with the people of Israel.

The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a traditional Yom HaShoah presentation, memorializing the men, women and children who perished in the Holocaust and paying tribute to those who survived. The Consul General of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico, Ofer Bavly and Senator Marco Rubio will be the featured guest speakers.

The event will also include a dramatic presentation, where five survivors from Miami-Dade County will read their own experiences. There will also be students from Hebrew Academy (RASG) who will present meaningful songs and Kaddish will be recited.

The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach is located at 1933-45 Meridan Avenue, Miami Beach. Free parking is available south of the Memorial. In case of rain, the program will be held at Temple Emanu-el, 1701 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach.

Names of those who perished will be read beginning at 3 p.m. For more information or to volunteer as a reader of the names of Holocaust victims, please call the Holocaust Memorial at 305.538.1663.
