About Our Speaker
Brenda Moxley
Director of Community Security for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation
Brenda Moxley is a retired FBI Executive whose background includes counter-terrorism. Hired by Federation to provide security consultation to 120 Jewish organizations – including JCCs, synagogues, schools and other institutions in the Miami-Dade area – she works to improve critical security infrastructure, crisis management and education.
About Federation’s Office of Community Security
Federation’s Office of Community Security (OCS) collaborates with federal, state and local law enforcement to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within the Jewish community. Working continually with individual institutions and law enforcement, OCS is implementing a five-pronged plan that comprises Awareness, Communication, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Training and Education, and Crisis Management, to maximize preventative strategies and create an environment of preparedness. This has resulted in a significant increase in police physical presence and law enforcement focus on Jewish communal facilities.
Together with Federations across the country, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation supports a national initiative – the Secure Community Network (SCN) – that is central to the American Jewish community’s response to heightened security concerns. SCN is the designated interface between Homeland Security and the Jewish community. It alerts Jewish institutions to potential threats to keep us safe. SCN ensures that the security needs of our community continue to remain a top focus of the intelligence and law enforcement agencies charged with safeguarding our country and communities from the risk of terror attacks.
