Lehrman Community Day School

727 Lehrman Drive (77th Street) Miami Beach, Florida 33141

Lehrman Community Day School (LCDS) is a pluralistic academic community with programs in Early Childhood and Elementary Education that nurtures and celebrates every child’s unique contribution to the whole. It is our mission to prepare our students to live their lives as responsible American citizens and reflective Jews in a global community. Our ideal graduate lives a life of purpose, animated by heartfelt dreams, moral character and intellectual discovery. LCDS subscribes to the demanding and coherent content rich Core Knowledge sequence and serves as a Core Knowledge visitation site for aspiring Core Knowledge faculty. Because we know that early second language acquisition is advantageous for any child’s intellectual and linguistic development, we begin Hebrew language instruction at age three, using current immersion strategies supported by scholars eminent in the field. We have a rich arts program including the visual, musical and dramatic arts. Research tells us how important physical activity is to learning, so we allow our students time for unstructured play, as well as developmentally appropriate physical education and competitive sports programs to develop their physical bodies. Their spiritual development is of upmost importance to us as well. Our Judaica program includes daily prayer, text instruction and the celebration of our Jewish heritage. Jewish values are lived, through teaching and modeling. Four generations of alumni, many of them now parents of a new group of Lehrman students, attest to our successes over the past half century. LCDS is accredited by AISF and SACS and affiliated with CAJE and PEJE.
