YIVO is a non-profit research institution dedicated to the study of East European Jewish life and culture. YIVO's library has more than 350,000 books (many in Yiddish); the archives hold 22.5 million artifacts on East European and American Jewish subjects. YIVO offers Yiddish language classes at all levels, and sponsors a wide range of public programs.
