XXXVII Annual Maccabi Games

Thursday, November 15, 2018, 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM

The Michael-Ann Russell JCC Maccabi Games was first organized in 1982, when a small group of Latin Jewish immigrants decided to continue the tradition of these games that were so popular in their native Latin American countries. From its inception, athletes would register for the Games by country of origin, allowing them to maintain cultural ties to the countries from which they emigrated. Thirty seven years ago, there were 350 children and adults, divided into four teams. Today, the Games have become a reflection of South Florida’s large and diverse Latin Jewish population, but also embrace participation by the entire total Jewish community. The MAR-JCC Hebraica Maccabi Games is an Olympic-style sporting competition. This week-long athletic event features over 700 competitive games in 13 different sports including Basketball, Swimming, Track and Field, Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, Flag-Football, and more. The Games attract about 2000 registered athletes, and up to 3,000 spectators daily.

ICA Miami 365 Party

Saturday, November 17, 2018, TBD to TBD

We are thrilled to announce that this year’s 365 Party will take place on November 17, 2018. Since opening its new permanent home last December, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami has been committed to supporting free access to art—every day of the year. Please join us for a very special evening at the Moore Building, with celebratory remarks by legendary artist Judy Chicago. Honoring Andrew Smulian, Chairman Emeritus of Akerman Law Firm and longstanding Vice Chair of ICA Miami’s Board of Trustees, this year’s event will celebrate his tireless dedication to arts, culture and social service in South Florida. Through Andrew’s leadership, Akerman supported free admission at the museum from 2014–2017, making art and education more accessible to over 50,000 residents of our community. The 365 Party is presented by Cartier, the museum’s Leadership Partner. The evening’s festivities will include cocktails, dinner and dancing. ICA Miami provides free and open access to the arts for children, teens, families and adults through an energetic calendar of exhibitions, education and outreach programs. Join us in making this event a success. Thank you and we look forward to sharing a fabulous evening with you on November 17!
