Job Description Summary

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) seeks an energetic, relationship-driven Student Engagement Coordinator to help inspire and support the next generation of Jewish and civic leaders. Working closely with the Education & Antisemitism Liaison, the Student Engagement Coordinator will coordinate the day-to-day operations of JCRC’s student-facing initiatives, cultivate meaningful relationships with high school and college students, and help strengthen partnerships with schools, educators and community organizations. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about education, civic engagement, combating antisemitism and building bridges across communities.

The Student Engagement Coordinator reports to the Education & Antisemitism Liaison.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of JCRC’s educational initiatives serving high school and college students, including but not limited to:
    • Teens Advocating Together, a civic engagement program developed collaboratively with the NAACP for students in grades 10-12.
    • Student-to-Student, a peer-led initiative presented in partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach that empowers Jewish high school students to share their Jewish experiences with non-Jewish students in order to dispel stereotypes and foster greater understanding.
  • Recruit, train and support Jewish student presenters, participants and volunteers, preparing them to serve as effective peer educators, civic participants and bridge builders.
  • Create opportunities for sustained engagement among students from different religious, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a new educational partnership with the Archdiocese of Miami that introduces Catholic high school students to the Jewish community, Jewish history and contemporary Jewish life.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Jewish college students throughout Miami-Dade County, providing guidance, support and connections to community resources, with a particular emphasis on Miami-Dade College.
  • Support JCRC’s partnerships with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the Miami-Dade Teachers’ Union and other education stakeholders.
  • Build and sustain collaborative working relationships with the Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education, the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee and other local and national organizations addressing antisemitism, Holocaust education, Jewish inclusion and intergroup understanding.
  • Manage program schedules, participant communications, registration, materials, logistics and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records of institutional contacts, partnerships, student participation, and program activity.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand JCRC’s educational partnerships while maintaining a clear focus on combating antisemitism and community relations.
  • Monitor trends, research and best practices related to education, antisemitism, civic engagement and community relations, incorporating innovative approaches into JCRC programming.
  • Represent the JCRC at community meetings, school and campus events, partner programs and other gatherings as assigned.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as needed.

Qualification & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in education, public policy, Jewish studies, nonprofit management, civic engagement or a related field preferred.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience in Jewish communal service, education, nonprofit leadership or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Jewish life, traditions, history and contemporary issues affecting Jewish communities, including familiarity with Israel.
  • A basic understanding of the Jewish community’s educational and youth organizational landscape, which includes day schools, teen movements, Jewish student organizations and service organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with, mentor and build authentic relationships with high school and college students.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with a diverse range of Jewish communal professionals, educators, clergy, community leaders and partner organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience developing, coordinating and evaluating educational or community-based programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals, volunteers, educators, clergy and community leaders.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter who is adaptable, detail-oriented and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for programs and community events.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Hebrew is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

The Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

This is a sedentary role; Physical requirement of being able to lift 15 pounds at times. The position primarily involves working at a desk, sitting for extended periods while using a computer, phone, or other digital devices.
