Temple Israel of Greater Miami Continues Lev of Legends Oneg Shabbat Series

Temple Israel of Greater Miami is in full swing celebrating their Centennial with fresh and engaging signature events. On Friday, November 26 they continue their 'Lev of Legends' Oneg Shabbat series. After a 7:30 p.m. Shabbat service, special host Joseph Z. Fleming will present “A Conversation and Presentation” as he remembers his father Rabbi Colman A. Zwitman, who became Temple Israel of Greater Miami's rabbi in 1936, serving until his untimely death from World War II related injuries in 1949. The program will be moderated by Norma Orovitz and is open to the community.

The word for heart in Hebrew is Lev. In this series of events, meet or rediscover the actual people - the pioneers who took the simple but powerful idea of an inclusive house of prayer and nurtured it and developed it, creating what would become the greatest Reform congregation in the South. Each month, we will introduce another hero or heroine, without whom the Temple could not survived or thrived.
