Celebrate Israel, Celebrate Community at The Main Event

On Thursday, February 7, 2013, nearly 1,400 people will come together for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation 2013 Main Event and Israel’s 65th Birthday. This annual gathering is more than a celebration – it is also a demonstration of our community’s commitment to helping Jewish people in need in Miami and worldwide, as well as a show of solidarity with the people and the State of Israel. During this memorable evening, guests will hear from National Jewish Book Award-winning author Dr. Daniel Gordis, and will be treated to a performance by Israeli superstar Einat Sarouf.

Dr. Daniel Gordis is Senior Vice President and the Koret Distinguished Fellow at the Shalem Center in Jerusalem. He is a regular columnist for The Jerusalem Post, and a contributor to The New York Times. The author of numerous books on Jewish thought and current events in Israel, and a winner of the National Jewish Book Award, Dr. Gordis was the founding dean of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the University of Judaism. Dr. Gordis joined Shalem in 2007 to help found Israel’s first liberal arts college, after spending nine years as vice president of the Mandel Foundation in Israel.

Einat Sarouf is a dynamic Israeli singer who has performed all over the world. She brings Israel wherever she appears with her renditions of traditional Jewish melodies, as well as modern Israeli hits, Mediterranean tunes, and songs in many other languages. A featured entertainer on Miami Mega Mission Israel 2012, she had hundreds of participants dancing the night away during a nonstop Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) performance at Masada. Celebrate Israel 65 in Miami at The Main Event and party with Einat Sarouf as we wish Israel a very happy birthday with song, dance and a night you won’t forget.

The Main Event, chaired by Moj and Robert Danial, begins with a buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, 4441 Collins Avenue.

Non-tax-deductible couvert for the event is $100 per person, or $75 for those age 30 and younger. Guests will have the opportunity to make a gift to the 2013 Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign.

Dietary laws will be observed. Valet and self-parking are available. Business attire. For more information, call 786.866.8437.
