Hundreds of members of Miami’s Jewish community came together on Wednesday, May 24 at the Jungle Island Ballroom for the 85th Annual Meeting of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. Chaired by Silvia and Miguel Assor, the luncheon awarded five dedicated volunteer leaders for their significant commitment to Federation and tikkun olam (repairing the world). Leslie G. Benitah and Jason Haim received the Stanley C. Myers Presidents’ Leadership Award. Lisa Goldstein was honored with the Robert Russell Fellowship Award. Michelle Kahan and Isaac Mizrahi received the Sandra C. Goldstein Young Leadership Award. Additionally, the 2023-2024 Board of Directors, Trustee, Leadership Council and Council of Jewish Organizations was also installed. Jacob Solomon, Federation President and CEO, reflected on the 85th anniversary of the creation of Federation with a special toast: “We give thanks for all those whose words and deeds have united our community and have enabled us to bring help and hope to those in need, while advancing Jewish life everywhere. May our leaders continue to inspire and guide us in our rich tradition of tzedakah ... social justice ... and may our community continue to go from strength to strength for many generations to come.”
