Supporting Women and Children in Israel During the Pandemic

Pandemic

Your donations to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign are helping Federation provide emergency grants to three Israeli nonprofits supporting at-risk women and children. With Israel beginning its second national lockdown, these vulnerable groups are in greater need of assistance. The Association of Rape Crisis Centers, which reported a 50 percent increase in emergency calls to their helpline since March, is helping survivors of domestic violence with emotional and financial needs. Beyond the physical trauma, many of these women were also laid off or furloughed as a result of the coronavirus crisis, have young children and no safety net. Israeli Women’s Network and Women’s Spirit are assisting them with free legal advice, online emotional support and workshops.

In addition to these emergency grants, Federation’s Women’s Amutot Inititiative partnered with other Jewish women's organizations to form the Jewish Women's Collective Response Fund, providing grants to programs addressing the increase in domestic violence as a result of the pandemic. The grantees are Maslan: The Negev’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Support Center; Tahel: Crisis Center for Religious Women and Women’s Spirit.
