Kosher Food Distribution Drive-Thru Helps the Community
Federation continues responding to these challenging times as volunteers distributed packages of baked goods, chicken, fresh produce and nonperishable food and provisions to 500 people yesterday during a kosher food distribution drive-thru at the Dave & Mary Alper Jewish Community Center in Kendall. The event was coordinated by Federation Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) in partnership with Jewish Community Services of South Florida, Feeding South Florida, the Alper JCC and South Dade synagogues and organizations. The distribution offered some much-needed help to those suffering as a result of the pandemic. The Sol Taplin Charitable Foundation, Miami-Dade County through Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, District 8, provided funding support for the event. “Now is an unprecedented time when people have extra needs,” said Federation South Dade Gives Back Chair Elaine Brown. “So many of us have benefited from the support of Federation in the past and now we must commit ourselves to help others.” The JVC is the central clearinghouse for volunteerism in Miami’s Jewish community and is a resource for individuals, families and groups who would like to get involved and help local non-profit organizations.
