Federation Supports Israeli Organizations Focused on Special Needs Grants

With Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance & Inclusion Month beginning on February 1, Federation is honored to support the work of three vital Israeli organizations that address the needs of people with disabilities. Our Israel & Overseas Committee recently approved more than $93,000 in grants to Beit Issie Shapiro; Shalva: The Israel Association for Care and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities; and Bar-Ilan University: Music and Community Center (MACOM) to support their 2023 programming. An advocate for disabilities legislation and awareness, Beit Issie Shapiro develops innovative therapies and state-of-the-art services for children and adults across the entire range of disabilities. Shalva’s Me and My Mommy provides holistic, early intervention therapy solutions for children with disabilities up to 18 months old and their parents, administering a variety of physical, occupational and sleep therapy, all free of charge. Keilim Shluvim, or Instruments of Communication, a program of MACOM, utilizes the power of music to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities realize their full abilities.
