Two Federation Employees Honored by Their Peers

During a special year-end staff luncheon hosted by Board Chair Barbara Black Goldfarb, General Campaign Chair Brian L. Bilzin and Immediate Past Chair William Lehman, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation recognized two outstanding Federation staff members for their hard work, professionalism and commitment to Federation, their colleagues and the community.

Federation JCRC Director Carol Brick-Turin was presented with the 2011 Myron J. Brodie Award for Professional Excellence. The award, named in honor of Federation Executive Vice President Emeritus Myron J. “Mike” Brodie, was given to Brick-Turin in recognition of her professionalism and profound commitment to furthering the Mission of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and exemplifying the highest standards of Jewish communal service.

In addition, Marisabel Quiros was presented with the 2011 Mensch Award. In Yiddish, “mensch” refers to someone of noble character, responsibility and a sense of what is right. Quiros, administrative assistant to Assistant Campaign Director Marc Fishman, has been with Federation for four years. She was given the award for her outstanding service and in recognition of her positive and flexible attitude, respectful treatment of others, and consistent dedication and willingness to go above and beyond the scope of her duties in support of her colleagues and the Federation Mission.

With nominations for the Mensch Award submitted by Federation staff, Federation’s Management Team selected both recipients, and Federation President and CEO Jacob Solomon presented the awards.
