Federation Collaborates With Other Local Nonprofits to Focus on Women’s Safety

Federation is helping change attitudes about sexual assault and harassment on South Florida college campuses, support survivors, empower women and engage men as allies through Change the Culture. The collaborative grant is supported by Federation's Women's Impact Initiative, which provides grants from Federation’s Annual Campaign to nonprofit organizations in Miami that inspire and empower Jewish women and girls, and improve our community through programs that achieve social, economic and political equality. “With the rise of the ‘Me Too’ movement, and growing awareness of sexual assault and harassment on college campuses, we felt this was an issue that needed to be addressed now,” said Elise Scheck Bonwitt, Chair of the Women’s Impact Initiative Committee.

Change the Culture will be held on three college campuses in South Florida: University of Miami, Nova Southeastern University and Florida Atlantic University. “This is the first time we are supporting a program like this together across all three counties because we all share a commitment to the safety of women on our college campuses,” added Bonwitt.

The Jewish Women’s Foundation of Broward County, the Jewish Women’s Foundation of South Palm Beach County and the Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches are joining Federation in supporting this powerful program.
