Last Remaining Hostage Returned to Israel

With the body of Police Staff Sergeant Ran Gvili returned to his family earlier this week, there are no Israeli hostages in Gaza for the first time in 12 years. Ran was one of the first taken hostage by Hamas on October 7 and the last to be recovered. He sacrificed his life protecting his country and saving others. His willingness to fight for the safety and security of the Jewish people is the very definition of heroism. The Greater Miami Jewish Federation sends our deepest condolences to the Gvili family. We are grateful to the IDF, Israel's security forces and all those who persevered to ensure the homecoming of each of the 251 hostages. With Ran’s return, we can remove our yellow ribbons and, in some ways, the country can exhale — even as we continue to mourn, remember and honor all those lost.
