WIZO, the Women’s International Zionist Organization, founded in 1920, is dedicated to empowering women, providing safe haven for abused women and their children, and educating the next generation of Israel’s leaders. WIZO Florida was established in 1982 with its primary focus on supporting over 15 of the 800 WIZO projects in Israel, including child care centers, youth villages and schools, shelters for battered women and girls in distress, and services for the elderly. Since 1959, WIZO has been recognized by the United Nations as a non-governmental organization with consultative status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and United Nations Children’s emergency Fund (UNICEF). As a volunteer led non-profit, WIZO changes the lives of women, children and youth in Israel every day.
