The Women’s Amutot Initiative allocates funds from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s annual campaign to organizations in Israel that empower women to improve Israeli society through social, economic, religious, and political equality. Click here to read more about the Women’s Amutot Initiative.

The Women’s Amutot Initiative was established in 2003 to focus exclusively on the needs and welfare of women and girls in Israel, utilizing strategic grant making and applying a gender lens in its grant making. The committee will consider funding projects that are consistent with its mission and promote social change in Israel by addressing one of the priority areas below:
• Economic Empowerment
• Social Empowerment
• Protection Against and Prevention of Violence
• Leadership Development
The committee is responsible for reviewing the applications and allocating grants to registered Israeli not-for-profit organizations that correspond to the Women’s Amutot Initiative’s priorities and guidelines. Organizations must have strong professional staff, focus on women or girls, be fiscally responsible providing programmatic and budgetary reports, have evaluation and assessment procedures in place, have other means of financial support, and compliment the Mission of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
Women’s Amutot Initiative – 2022 Grants
Izun: Train women business owners to serve in senior management positions in public and government companies as well as to serve on boards and in key decision-making positions.
General Support: Training for Haredi women towards driving social change, mentoring for developing and implementation of innovative community projects, and alumni network.
MA’ASE CENTER ASSOCIATION: NE’URIM PROGRAM VOLUNTEER YEAR
Personal empowerment volunteer-year program for 70 young Druze women, ages 18-21, volunteering in 14 Druze communities. Through their participation in the program, these young women will serve as mentors and tutors of 3,500 Druze children and teens that participate in youth activities provided by Ne’urim Centers.
NIVCHAROT: ULTRA-ORTHODOX WOMEN FOR REPRESENTATION, EQUALITY AND A VOICE
General Support: Empowering ultra-orthodox women through awareness of their rights and placing Haredi women in key political positions.
VILLAGE WAY: ISRAELITE YOUNG WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR IMMIGRANT YOUTH (MECHINA)
Courses and workshops for young women from immigrant backgrounds attending a mechina gap year program. The mechina is a 10-month (September–June) residential, educational program that provides interactive workshops, community service, seminars, field trips and hikes.
General Support: Training, leadership development, networking, support promoting women’s political participation and engagement in decision making at the local, regional, and national levels.
Protecting Women Against Violence
ASSOCIATION OF RAPE CRISIS CENTERS: CHANGING LAWS, CHANGING LIVES
General Support: Aims to improve services offered to victims of sexual assault and promote social change on a national level.
ITACH MAAKI: CENTER FOR BEDOUIN WOMEN’S RIGHTS
Promote safety, independence and action of Bedouin women living in the Negev and to advance their rights and their independence by providing legal aid, fostering public participation and enacting policy changes.
MASLAN: EMERGENCY SUPPORT LINE FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUALLY ABUSED INDIVIDUALS
Supports the Emergency Hotline, a 24-hour service for victims of sexual and physical violence. The hotline is staffed by 300 professionally trained volunteers that offer emotional practical support and guidance in eight languages to accommodate the diverse needs of the Negev’s population.
RACKMAN CENTER: THE FAILURE OF LEGAL SYSTEM TO RESPOND TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
Fight violence against women in the context of the divorce process and family law system.
TAHEL (CRISIS CENTER FOR RELIGIOUS WOMEN): RESILIENCY TRAINING FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Development and implementation of a resiliency training course for victims of abuse.
WOMEN’S SPIRIT: BREAKING THE BIND – FINANCIAL SECURITY ADVOCACY FOR SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE
Advocates change in policies and laws that undermine financial security and safety of violence survivors.
ADVA: CORE GENDER PROGRAM
Examine government coronavirus recovery plan, government budget, and sports budget of Israel’s leading national sports associations though gender lens, raise awareness of effect of proposed increase in retirement age on women, continue training women leaders and potential leaders for political roles in local government.
BAT KOL: QUEER JEWISH WOMEN - FOR YOU ONLINE SUPPORT
Online support center for lesbian religious and ultra-orthodox trans women.
CENTER FOR WOMEN’S JUSTICE / MAVOI SATUM: MAINSTREAMING LEGAL TOOLS THAT PREVENT MARITAL CAPTIVITY
A joint collaboration utilizing halakhic and civil legal tools to thwart marital captivity including prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and awareness of conditional marriage.
ISRAEL WOMEN’S NETWORK
General Support: Legal aid hotline to protect ultra-orthodox and Arab women during current pandemic employment crisis.
OHR TORAH STONE: YAD L’ISHA LEGAL AID CENTER: PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENT ADVOCACY PROGRAM
Building public awareness about the importance of signing halakhic prenuptial agreements.
SHATIL: STRENGTHENING, MOBILIZING, AND COORDINATING WOMEN'S EFFORTS IN ISRAEL
Consulting and training services exclusively to organizations funded by the Women’s Amutot Initiative.
VAN LEER INSTITUTE: THE GENDER INDEX
Updates and expands the Gender Index to help facilitate the monitoring of gender inequality in Israel and to promote policy change. The Gender Index is an online analytical report designed to provide crosscutting data on the position of women in Israeli society representing everything from family status to participation in public life. The Index targets policymakers and is aimed at facilitating informed decision-making and activity to promote gender equality in Israel.
AJEEC-NISPED: TALIYAH GAP YEAR
Academic and personal development activities for young Arab women to prepare them for university and a career.
BE-ATZMI: MIFNE-MAASAR – EMPLOYMENT ADVANCEMENT AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Group workshops focusing on employability skills and individual mentoring.
BE’ER SHEVA FOUNDATION: SIKET – SUPPORT FOR ETHIOPIAN-ISRAELI WOMEN
Support services for 100 Ethiopian-Israeli women to facilitate admission and graduation from higher education and career development.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT FOR WOMEN: A BUSINESS OF ONE'S OWN
Assist 40 low-income/marginalized women reach economic independence through self-employment. Meetings with empowerment and business facilitators, technical assistance and mentoring for women, as well as personal consulting.
ITWORKS: SINGLE MOTHERS ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM
Training and job placement assistance for single mothers in the hi-tech industry.
THE JERUSALEM COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY LEVTECH PRE-NOVATION PROGRAM
To train female Orthodox and Haredi students in creative thinking and tactical skills to have an entrepreneurial mindset.
KIEDF (KORET): SAWA-TOGETHER MICROFINANCE SERVICES
Business consultations, financial and marketing workshops and access to credit for development and expansion of small businesses owned by Arab-Israeli women.
LA’OFEK: ACHOTENU/NACHSHONIM ACADEMIC NURSES TRAINING PROGRAM
Training program for Ethiopian-Israeli women studying to become nurses or paramedical professionals and for those studying Occupational Therapy. Works in partnership with Hebrew University, Hadassah Hospital.
YOZMOT ATID: ATID MICRO-ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM FOR HAREDI WOMEN
Micro Entrepreneurship program for Haredi women including business training, mentoring, networking and micro-loans.
ZEIRIM BEYERUCHAM: SHE WORK BUSINESS INCUBATOR FOR WOMEN
A business space for women entrepreneurs includes training program, mentorship, and group meetings.
