Miami Stands Strong with Israel

WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH ISRAEL as the country has endured days of an escalated, deadly barrage of rocket attacks from Gaza by terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, killing and injuring Israeli citizens and forcing millions into bomb shelters.

As a result of the deadly attacks on its citizens, Israel launched Operation Guardian of the Walls to severely limit the command-and-control capabilities of Hamas leadership and significantly reduce its ability to launch rockets into Israel, which have reached far and wide from the south to the north of the country. We also recognize that innocent lives have been lost and destruction exists on both sides of the conflict. However, there is no moral equivalency between terrorists attempting to kill and maim the maximum number of people on the one hand and individuals being used in a cynical and callous way to shield terrorists and military installations.

WE STRONGLY CONDEMN AND ARE OUTRAGED by public figures and thought leaders who have taken a unilateral, critical view of Israel during this escalation. We are clear-eyed about this conflict, firmly supporting Israel’s right to exist and duty to defend itself. We reaffirm that it is the principal obligation of any government to protect its citizens. No sovereign nation should be called upon to tolerate such life-threatening circumstances.

WE SUPPORT THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL and help to ensure their safety and security now and always. The Greater Miami Jewish Federation has joined an effort to participate with The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) to immediately allocate urgently needed funds to provide relief to the victims of terror and the most vulnerable populations, including the elderly, Holocaust Survivors and people with disabilities. The Israel Trauma Coalition has also been activated and the additional funding will assist in providing immediate care to all those affected by this devastating crisis.

We mourn the loss of innocent lives on both sides and pray that the violence will end soon.

Please read below on how the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is standing strong with the people of Israel.
