Join Federation and IsraAID for Voices from Venezuela: Crisis, Community, and Response

Tuesday, July 14 | 7 PM

This crisis is unfolding as we speak. Come hear how we can stand with the people of Venezuela in this critical moment.

Presented in partnership with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and Temple Menorah

Right now, as the people of Venezuela are living through the aftermath of a devastating earthquake, Federation partner IsraAID is on the ground responding. Come hear firsthand from IsraAID about their comprehensive response from team members coming directly from Venezuela to share their experiences with you.

We're honored that David Mishkin, President of Hebraica (Venezuela's Jewish community center), will join us to share more about their emergency response on the ground and the urgent needs facing families right now. Also in attendance will be Juliana Peña, IsraAID's Director of Latin America Progams, Matan Sivek, Chief of Strategic Partnerships at IsraAID and Thalma Cohen de Abadi, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Colegio Moral y Luces, the Jewish community school of Venezuela.

Pre-registration is required.

IsraAID is the leading disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization based out of Israel, is non-governmental and nonpolitical, and has responded to disasters in 67 countries over the last 25 years. Less than 20 hours after the devastating earthquakes hit Venezuela last week, we already had teams on the ground, deploying from our long-term work just across the border in Colombia. We have partnered with the Hebraica, the Jewish Community Center in Caracas, along with local municipal governments, and are providing urgent needs while planning to be there for the long term to support both the Jewish and non-Jewish communities as they begin to recover.

Be Part of Our Community’s Response During Hurricane Season

Weather shot

Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) is seeking volunteers for the 2026 JVC Emergency Response Team (JVERT) to help others in our community in the event of a weather emergency. With eight to 14 named storms predicted for the current hurricane season, now is the time to prepare in case one threatens our area. If you have a “can-do” attitude, as well as the ability to help remove debris, deliver meals, visit the homebound and/or provide comfort to those with hurricane-related challenges, please join JVERT.

HaZamir Miami is a local chapter of the HaZamir: International Jewish Teen Choir, offering Jewish high schoolers the opportunity to rehearse and perform high-level Jewish choral music. Directed by Dr. Alan Mason, the choir meets on Sundays and frequently collaborates on a regional and national level. HaZamir is a youth movement that welcomes Jewishly identified and musically talented teens from a broad range of cultural backgrounds and levels of religious observance. HaZamir offers high schoolers in 35 chapters across the United States and Israel the opportunity to learn and sing Jewish choral music at the highest musical standard and on the world’s greatest stages. In weekly rehearsals, regional gatherings, and the HaZamir International Festival, HaZamir teens study Jewish text and history, grow as leaders, cultivate a deep connection to Israel, and create enduring friendships that transcend geographic, political, social, and denominational differences. Together the singers of HaZamir create harmonious unity and long lasting connections, to one another and Judaism, through excellence in music.

MJFF Screening: "Strangers in the Park"

Monday, July 20 | 7:30 PM

Film photo still

Join the Miami Jewish Film Festival for the theatrical premiere of the acclaimed Argentine comedy Strangers in the Park with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Juan José Campanella in attendance. One of Argentina's most beloved storytellers, Campanella will personally introduce the film and remain after the screening for an exclusive audience Q&A, offering insights into his latest crowd-pleasing work and the art of finding humor, humanity, and connection in unexpected places.

Strangers in the Park is a charming, sharply observed comedy about a group of ordinary people whose lives unexpectedly collide in a bustling city park over the course of a single day, reminding us that even complete strangers can leave a lasting mark on our lives.
