On The Front Lines: A lifetime of Global Jewish Advocacy

David Harris, a lifelong Jewish activist, served as the leader of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) from 1990 to 2022. The New York Times has referred to the AJC as the "Dean of American Jewish Organizations." The late Israeli President Shimon Peres once described Harris as the "Foreign Minister of the Jewish People."

Harris has received honors from foreign governments more than 20 times for his international work, making him the most decorated leader of American Jewish organizations in U.S. history. He was educated at the University of Pennsylvania and the London School of Economics and has served as a visiting scholar at both Johns Hopkins University and Oxford University.
