Alan Dershowitz

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is proud to present Professor Alan M. Dershowitz with the 2012 Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award at The Main Event on February 16, 2012.

Professor Alan M. Dershowitz is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. His unwavering support of the people and State of Israel is without equal. His stance against terror and vocal defense of Israel’s right to safeguard itself is heartening to all who care for the Jewish homeland. Professor Dershowitz’s steadfast opposition to divestment from Israel and leadership against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction movement and assaults on Israel’s legitimacy is unparalleled.

A prolific author, he has published more than 100 articles in magazines and journals, such as The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, The Nation, Commentary, Saturday Review, The Harvard Law Review and The Yale Law Journal, and more than 300 of his articles have appeared in syndication nationally. Professor Dershowitz has also written 27 fiction and non-fiction works, including Rights From Wrong, The Case For Israel, The Case For Peace, The First Amendment In An Age of Terrorism, and The Case For Moral Clarity: Israel, Hamas and Gaza.

In addition, as one of America’s most esteemed legal thinkers, Professor Dershowitz’s outspoken position on the protection of civil and individual liberties is notable and consistent with the Torah’s mandate of “Justice, Justice Thou Shall Pursue.”
