Federation's 76th Annual Meeting to Honor and Elect Community Leaders

Hundreds of people will gather to recognize and thank exceptional individuals for their service to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and Miami’s Jewish community – and elect and install new leadership – at Federation’s 76th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 28 at Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami. The community will pay tribute to Brian L. Bilzin, a long-time Federation supporter who has served with distinction as Federation Chair of the Board for the past two years, and induct Robert G. Berrin, who has most recently served as General Campaign Chair, to the position of Board Chair. 

Co-chaired by Ezra Katz, Daniel Lewis, Stuart Miller and Richard Yulman, the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a kosher cocktail reception and buffet dinner. Federation’s Officers, Board of Directors, Trustees and Leadership Council also will be elected and installed.

Another highlight of the evening will be the presentation of awards to five outstanding leaders who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the Mission of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and our community. 

The 2014 Stanley C. Myers Presidents’ Leadership Award

This award, named for Federation’s late Founding President, is presented annually to two dynamic Jewish leaders who have demonstrated outstanding service to Miami’s Jewish community. Myers was an exceptional leader who served the Jewish community of Miami for decades and helped set the standard for Jewish philanthropy in South Florida. The 2014 honorees are Melissa Buckner and Mark Kravitz.

The 2014 Robert Russell Fellowship Award

Named in remembrance of the late Robert Russell, this award is presented to a member of the community who has shown active interest in the Federation, and in particular, Jewish communities overseas. Bob Russell was an extraordinary leader who served as President of Federation, as a National Chairman of the United Jewish Communities (UJA), and Chairman of The Jewish Agency for Israel’s Housing Committee. The 2014 honoree is Jacob Serfati.

The 2014 Sandra C. Goldstein Young Leadership Award

This award was created in 2006 by Miriam and Sam Goldstein in memory of their daughter, Sandra C. Goldstein, a wonderful young leader in Miami’s Jewish community who received the Stanley C. Myers Presidents’ Leadership Award in her lifetime. It is presented annually to two individuals between the ages of 25 and 35 for leadership and service to Miami’s Jewish community. The recipients of the 2014 Sandra C. Goldstein Young Leadership Award are Lindsay Sasha David and Michael S. Wagner.

Couvert (non-tax-deductible) for the event is $100 per person and $50 for those age 40 and under. There will be no solicitation of funds.
